Obox is looking for a PHP bro

Even though Obox Themes is only 1 year old, Obox Design is about 5 years old, having been a two man vibe its entire lifespan as mentioned in a previous post.

We have maybe outsourced 3 times since starting this co. and so far we have coped quite well.

Earlier this year we were at a point where we either close our custom dev department or really limit our time and focus on themes. We chose the former and Theme biz has gone up since then.

But we feel that we are missing out on good exciting/business by totally shutting down our custom development department. The problem is that we are short of resources on the programming side of things.

So we need to employ someone. And in particular we need a PHP developer. Here are some details of the position:

• You need to be able to work at Obox HQ. That is Hout Bay, Cape Town, South Africa
• Your main focus will be developing the designs I do for custom client work. I do the design, css and html, you will be doing the coding
• You must be fluent in PHP and have experience with WordPress
• You need a good understanding of CSS
• The hours are 9 to 5, 5 days a week
• You must be willing to learn new languages (for example, we use ColdFusion on Obox, so we will teach you some of that stuff)
• You will also get your hands dirty in themes, most likely conversions as well
• We will provide you with your equipment. We use PC’s though but will consider getting a Mac if needed.

Obox is an awesome environment to work in, we have an incredible location with an inspiring view and open offices. We also have Playstation and DSTV.

Marc and I are super chilled but we also expect high quality work, we are perfectionists at our job and obviously expect quality from those who we employ. That may sound hardcore but I promise we have a laugh while doing it

Choice of music played in the office is mostly deep house but you are welcome to bring your iPod along. We generally communicate through skype anyway.
