Shut Up. I'm Talking.
I'm David Perel, co-Founder of Obox Design. I make things. Don’t expect anything of what I say to make sense. You can stalk me on twitter or be inspired on dribbble.
I don’t want this to turn into some giant argument but just hear me out.
Everyone raves about GPL, the community, giving back, blah blah. This kind of stuff generally drives me a bit mad but whatever, drop in the ocean stuff.
WordPress 3.0 features a brand new way to organize your navigation. This is all good and I am keen to implement it in our themes.
What does bug me though is that although it’s getting a huge amount of coverage I am yet to see anyone give Woothemes (yes my competition) any credit for coming up with the system.
I believe in situations like this they should get full credit but because of GPL, the community and giving back, it’s just a footnote.
That is BS.
EDIT
After reading/hearing ya’lls comments and blog posts, I have come to realize the reality of the situation
So, its not BS but I still don’t like it.
I know that 90% of the code was re-written but at the end of the day, the idea, the concept the core of the feature was created by said company.
Maybe give the person/company with the idea of the new feature the ‘honor’ of naming that new feature.
